In a rather controversial move, UEFA has banned the Spanish soccer club Atletico Madrid from playing their next two home games at home. Instead, the team will be forced to play 185 miles outside of Madrid. The reason for all this? Their last game witnessed some disturbing acts from their fans, including the chanting of racial slurs. Americans can't seem to get a grasp on how racist other countries still are. Many believe racism is a thing of the past and hasn't occurred since the 1950s but in reality, it has been rampant all over the world ever since. This is not the first time race has played a factor during European soccer matches, nor, sadly, will it be the last. Kudos to UEFA for standing up against these acts and making a statement.
